During my time at home before I go to university, I have been using my skills that I have built up over the past 5 Years or more to make custom commissions. My skills vary from silversmithing and working with other metals to create jewellery pieces. I also have skills in working with leather for example creating leather book covers with pretty designs on the front. Eco-Friendly
I am conscious of the large global problem related to climate change and how everybody should take their part in making this world a better more eco-friendly place. So I am takeing small steps towards doing my part to using fewer plastics and using recycled source materials.
For a lot of the jewellery, I make I will use sea glass and pottery that is found at local beaches. This is a great way of removing litter from the seas and giving it a new life as a piece of lovely jewellery
My collection of copper wire is an accumulation of scrap electrical wire that's been stripped back to the copper wire and pieces of copper found on the beach. Instead of these bits getting thrown away I collect them and use them for my jewellery.
In places where I cant re-use items, I will try and find more eco-friendly alternatives such as these recycled paper notebooks.
Instead of packaging my creations in sealable plastic bags that will just get thrown away after. I have started using small cotton bags. This promotes you to keep it and re-use it for something productive yourself. And if it does find its way into a bin, going to landfill it will compost down and not leave any hazardous material behind.
If I am to send any of my products off in the post I will try and re-use old mailing envelopes.
